The charm of the story resided in the fact that every single word was so well written that even the simplest things rised the highest interest, creating and keeping the pleasure of reading through the whole book. I enjoyed every single word of the story, and I think it was masterfully told. I loved the irony that left space for joy and hopes even in the gloomiest moments. This is the best book I have read in a long time!

I enjoyed the way you worked the narrative to help speed up or slow down the pacing. The details you do have in this narrative are beautiful! I loved the way you described emotions, and I also thought the way you described ethnicity without stereotyping characters was a brilliant move wish other authors would write skin tones out that way. Joseph is such a deep, complex character and I loved learning about him. Beautiful job on that ending!

I'm writing this with tears down my cheeks, this will be in my memory as long as I live. I see it the same way I would see a Pollock. At first glance, abstract expressionism is chaos, it might chase away some people, but if you keep looking, it unveils the internal chaos of the beholder, and it is exactly what this Novel did to me. I would definitely reread the book, and it is a book that I would definitely recommend.

I started to read 'My Name Isn't Joe' by James Thomas, and at just three pages in I was totally invested in the character Joe and the authors infectious writing style. Right from the get-go I remained captivated and in awe of what was unfolding before my eyes. The authors compelling writing style had the ability to hold my attention continuously so much so that I set my alarm extra early so I could complete the book before work the next day! Through their compelling descriptions you are drawn into the characters emotions and their lives, they are so vivid you cannot help but feel present within the story. I am completely blown away, loved every inch of this book. I am an avid reader, but this book honestly blows all the other books I have read recently out of the water. This book is one I will be raving about to friends, family, and colleagues it is amazing.

I think you've got a winner there. Reminds me very much of Nick Hornby's writing.
